Our Lasers
We often receive inquiries about our laser cutting capabilities here at Axis Fabrication and Machine Company. Our two laser cutting systems, TRUMPF L3030- 5000 watt CO2 laser system and TRUMPF L3030 4000 watt Fiber Laser, are both from TRUMPF Inc. Notably, TRUMPF Inc. is the North American subsidiary of TRUMPF GmbH + Co. KG. based near Stuttgart, Germany and is one of the largest manufacturers of fabricating machinery in the United States.
L3030-5000 Watt CO2
The TRUMPF L3030- 5000 watt CO2 laser system combines high performance with cut quality that exceeds any and all expectations. First of all, the TruFlow laser creates extremely smooth, micro-burr-free cutting edges. Consequently, pieces that have been laser cut with the L3030 generally do not require post-processing, which saves customers both time and money. The L3030- 5000 watt CO2 system is capable of cutting 1” thick steel plate. Furthermore, the CoolLine function allows the creation of small contours in thick mild steel .
3030- 4000 Watt Fiber
Additionally, the other laser we have at Axis is the TRUMPF 3030- 4000 watt Fiber laser. A TruDisk solid-state laser enables the processing of non-ferrous metals and provides exceptional productivity benefit in thin sheet. Comparatively, the main difference between the two lasers becomes apparent in materials 1/8” thick and under. The higher power density created by the focused beam achieves a 300% increase in cutting speed in materials this size as well as retaining the micro-burr-free cutting edges. Most noteworthy, we have also equipped our fiber laser with tube cutting capabilities.
What can we cut?
Standard metals we laser cut are listed with the maximum thickness:
- Steel- 1″
- Stainless Steel- 3/4″
- Aluminum- 1/2″
- Copper- 5/16′
- Brass- 1/4″
We don’t have the capacity to cut materials other than metal, such as wood or composites; however, we encourage you to contact us if you have questions about any metal not included above.
Summary
Exceptional cut quality, excellent part tolerances, and custom prototyping are all possible with both lasers. An automatic material handling system, capable of positioning 5’ x 10’ sheets/plates, is paired with each laser. Above all, after combining our laser cutting capabilities with our in-house CAD-Engineering Services, Axis Fabrication can assist you with the creation of parts in need of great precision.
